Supervised preparation time
At standard level the student is given two previously unseen photographs (visual stimuli), with a title or caption, selected by the teacher. Each photograph is related to a different option covered in class. The student chooses one photograph only, on which to base the presentation. At higher level the student is given one photograph (visual stimulus), chosen by the teacher, related to an option covered in class.15 minutes
Part 1:
Presentation The student describes the photograph (visual stimulus) and relates it to the option and the target culture(s) 3–4 minutes
Part 2: Discussion
A discussion with the teacher based on the presentation follows. Discussion based on a topic from the other option covered in class may be introduced if that will contribute to the interaction.
5–6 minutes
